Albany REC Terms & Conditions of Use
Limits of Applicability
This policy does not apply when a user follows a link to another site (other local, state, and federal governments and commercial entities) or provides information to an application operated by another local, state, and federal government and commercial entity. Check the privacy policy of each governmental or commercial body if you have concerns about personally identifiable information. This policy applies only to information collected on the Albany, NY website itself. This policy may be updated periodically, so please check back from time to time.
Collection & Use of Information
The Albany REC website utilizes server logs and analysis tools to create summary statistics about the use of the website. The summary statistics are used for purposes such as assessing what information is of most interest to users, determining technical design specifications, and identifying system performance or problem areas. These logs collect the Internet Protocol (IP) address of your computer, and may collect other similar information about your computer network.
Certain online government transactions conducted on the City of Albany Department of Recreation (Albany REC) website ask for particular kinds of information about users and/or the organization with which they are affiliated. The specifics of this information vary according to the type of transaction and the agency or department involved. In each case, the information requested is identical to the information requested for transactions conducted in person rather than online. Whenever the Albany REC requests personal information, there will be an indication of whether disclosure of such information is mandatory or optional. Information collected in the course of the transaction is used for the following purposes:
To conduct online transactions with the appropriate agency or department (e.g., registration for events).
To send you an email confirming your transaction.
To forward announcements or content features to you, only if you have chosen to request this service.
The City of Albany does not sell or rent personally identifiable information. However, when you provide information to any government entity, that information may be subject to applicable state and federal legislation. Additionally, although Albany REC does not sell, or rent, personally identifiable information, certain local, state, and federal governments and commercial entities whose sites are accessible through the Albany REC website may sell personally identifiable information.
Commercial & Legal Implications
The City of Albany uses vendors to provide various services. Personally identifiable information may be shared with such vendors, so that they can perform the services required. Additionally, Albany REC may be required by law enforcement or judicial authorities to provide personally identifiable information to the appropriate governmental authorities. Albany REC cooperates fully with law enforcement agencies in identifying those who use our services for illegal activities. We reserve the right to report to law enforcement agencies any activities that we believe to be unlawful.
Cookies
Some of the online government transactions hosted by and linked from this site use cookies. A cookie is a small text file created to track specific information and stored on your computer. The services hosted on the Albany REC website use cookies to set a session ID (a kind of name tag so the service can keep track of your transactions). If your web browser does not accept cookies, you will not be able to make use of some features of this site.
