Terms & Conditions
General Information
- Payment is required for all courses at time of registration, unless noted otherwise.
- Confirmation receipts are emailed after each transaction.
- Fees are not prorated for missed classes.
- Update your account contact information regularly at with changes.
Class Sizes
- Limits have been placed on the size of some classes to assure quality instruction.
- Registration is first come, first served.
- Classes are reviewed at least 3 working days prior to start.
- Registration must be made prior to participation in any recreation activity.
Waitlist
- We do our best to monitor the waiting lists on a daily basis and will contact you as soon as there is an opening
- If we have not contacted you, no opening has become available.
Transfers
- Transfers from one course to another course may be made before a class starts and must be made by the Parks & Recreation Department to ensure students are in the right class.
Photo Policy
- Monona Parks & Recreation reserves the right to utilize photos of participants for publicity purposes.
- Participants not wanting their photo used must notify the Department in writing at the time of registration.

You can discuss any reasonable accommodations needed at least two weeks before the class is scheduled to begin. If you need a sign language interpreter, we request advance notice.
General Aquatic Facility Policies
- For your safety, American Red Cross certified lifeguards are on duty at all times.
- Please obey lifeguards at all times.
- Staff reserves the right to ask patrons to discontinue use of the facility for safety reasons.
- Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied at all times by a responsible person age 15 or older.
- Children over the age of 5 are not permitted in opposite-gender locker rooms.
- United States Coast Guard-approved life jackets are the only acceptable outside floatation device. No arm floatation or built-in life jackets allowed.
- Persons with an open wound, rash or infectious communicable disease will not be admitted into the pool.
- Anyone who has experienced a stomach or intestinal illness within the past two weeks should not enter the water.
- Swim diapers under swimsuits are required for those who are diaper dependent. Baby swim diapers are available for purchase at the Front Desk.
- Diapers must be changed in the bathroom.
- In the event of fecal matter in the pool, the facility will close for cleaning and sanitizing for 30 minutes to 24 hours or longer.
- Please shower before using the pool.
- No hanging or sliding on stair railings.
- No pushing, shoving or running allowed.
- Proper swimsuit attire is required.
- No roughhousing, horseplay or running.
- No alcohol permitted in pool area.
- Food and drink are permitted in concession areas only.
- Glass is not permitted.
- During periods of low attendance the pool may close at any time.
- Swimmers may be asked to pass a swimming test to use the diving board or slide.
Slide Rules
- Must be 36 inches to ride the slide or pass swim test.
- Only one person on the slide at a time. Lifeguard will signal riders to enter and ride feet first in a seated position.
- Goggles, fins, metal watches, jewelry, shoes, swimsuits with metal or plastic zippers, buckles, rivets, buttons or metal plastic ornamentation, flotation devices and loose fitting clothing are not permitted on the slide.
- No standing, running, climbing, pushing, shoving, kneeling, rolling, rotating or stopping down slide.
- Adults who are watching small children must stand to the side of the slide exit. Catching sliders is not permitted.
- Sliders must be able to independently swim.
Diving Board
- One diver at a time is permitted on the board.
- The diving board is the only entrance to the diving area in the pool.
- One bounce permitted during Open Swim Hours.
- Only jumping or diving straight off the end of the board is permitted.
- All divers must look before and wait until the area in the pool is clear before diving.
- No running, handstands, or sitting is permitted on boards
- Immediately after diving, the diver surfaces and swims clear of the diving area.
- Only Aquatics personnel will adjust equipment.
- Any activities deemed unsafe by the Aquatics personnel are not permitted.
Wading Pool
- Only children 45 inches or shorter allowed
- Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
- No pushing, shoving or running allowed.
- Deck furniture is not permitted in the wading pool.
- Swim diapers under swimsuits are required for those who are diaper dependent.
- Diapers must be changed in the bathroom.
Locker Rooms
- Running, horseplay and excessive noise are not permitted.
- Tanning oils, food, drink and glass containers are not permitted.
- Swimmers should use the restroom and shower before using the pools.
- The City of Monona is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged items. Please do not leave valuables unattended.
