Hollis Parks & Recreation Terms and Conditions

Welcome to Hollis Parks & Recreation! By participating in our programs, events, or utilizing our facilities, you agree to the following terms and conditions. These guidelines ensure a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment for all participants and staff.

General Terms

1. Eligibility:

   • Participation in Hollis Parks & Recreation programs is open to residents and non-residents. Certain programs or events may have specific age or residency requirements, which will be clearly stated in promotional materials.

2. Registration and Payment:

   • Registration is required for most programs, events, and facility rentals.
   • Full payment must be made at the time of registration unless otherwise specified.
   • Spaces in programs are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

3. Refunds and Cancellations:

   • Refunds will be issued in the form of credits to your account if proper cancellation procedures are followed. Monetary refunds must go through the Treasury Department and may take up to 30 days to process.
   • Cancellations by Hollis Parks & Recreation due to low enrollment, weather, or other unforeseen circumstances will result in a full refund or credit.

Code of Conduct

4. Participant Expectations:

   • All participants must respect staff, fellow participants, and property. Behavior that is disruptive, disrespectful, or unsafe will not be tolerated.
   • Participants are required to follow program rules and guidelines as outlined by staff.

5. Parent/Guardian Responsibility:

   • Parents or guardians of minors participating in programs must provide accurate emergency contact information and notify staff of any relevant medical or behavioral concerns.

6. Prohibited Actions:

   • Smoking, alcohol consumption, and illegal substances are prohibited on Parks & Recreation property unless specifically authorized for an event.
   • Vandalism, theft, or inappropriate behavior may result in removal from the program or facility and potential legal action.

Facility and Equipment Usage

7. Rentals:

   • Facility rentals, including the Hollis Community Building and Hollis Sports Complex, require approval from the Selectboard and Parks & Recreation Department.
   • Renters must adhere to all facility rules and leave the space in its original condition. Failure to do so may result in additional charges or loss of security deposits.

8. Damage Liability:

   • Participants and renters are responsible for any damages caused to equipment or facilities during use.

Health and Safety

9. Medical Emergencies:

   • In the event of a medical emergency, staff will take appropriate actions, including contacting emergency services and notifying guardians.
   • Participants with contagious illnesses should refrain from attending programs to ensure the health and safety of others.

10. Weather-Related Closures:

    • Hollis Parks & Recreation reserves the right to cancel or reschedule programs due to inclement weather. Updates will be communicated through email, social media, or phone notifications.

Media and Privacy

11. Photography and Media:

• Photos and videos taken during programs may be used for promotional purposes. Participants who do not wish to appear in media must notify Parks & Recreation in writing.

12. Privacy:

• All personal information is handled in compliance with Maine State Recommendations for Privacy.

Legal and Liability

13. Assumption of Risk:

• Participation in Hollis Parks & Recreation programs is voluntary and at your own risk. Hollis Parks & Recreation is not liable for injuries, losses, or damages incurred during participation.

14. Compliance with Laws:

• All participants and users must comply with local, state, and federal laws while on Parks & Recreation property or participating in programs.
